DO IT ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD / 1 CORINTHIANS 10:31

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) 1 Corinthians 10:31

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Live with Purpose: Doing It All for the Glory of God

What drives your daily choices? From the moment we wake up to the time we go to sleep, we make hundreds of decisions. For a Christian, God provides a single, ultimate filter for every single action.

In 1 Corinthians 10:31, the Apostle Paul writes:

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

This is not just a suggestion for religious activities. It is a radical blueprint for the entire human experience.

The Ultimate Filter for Daily Conduct

The main goal of a Christian’s life is to please God and bring honor to Him. We do this by becoming more like Jesus. True Christlikeness means reflecting His attitude of humility and selflessness toward God and others (Philippians 2:3-8).

If we take this command seriously, it alters everything we do. In fact, anything that cannot be done for God’s glory—in deep honor and gratitude to Him as our Creator, Savior, and Lord—should not be done at all.

How Do We Honor Him?

Living for God’s glory is practical. We honor Him through:

  • Obedience: Aligning our choices with His truth.
  • Thankfulness: Recognizing every blessing comes from His hand.
  • Humility: Removing ourselves from the center of attention.
  • Faithfulness: Staying true to His word in a shifting world.
  • Prayer and Reliance: Admitting we need His strength every single day.
  • Selfless Consideration: Prioritizing the needs of others to bring them closer to Christ.

Your Primary Directive

This simple rule—do it all for the glory of God—must become the primary directive of our lives. Let it be the guide for your conduct and the ultimate test for your actions. Before you speak, post online, make a purchase, or respond in anger, ask yourself: Can I do this to the glory of God?

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

You are our Creator, Savior, and Lord, and You alone are worthy of all praise. Forgive us for the times we seek our own recognition instead of Yours. Today, we ask that Your Holy Spirit aligns our hearts with 1 Corinthians 10:31.

Help us to make Your glory the primary directive of our lives. Grant us the humility of Jesus to serve others selflessly. May our obedience, thankfulness, and daily conduct serve as a reflection of Your love, drawing those around us closer to Christ. Teach us to filter every thought, word, and deed through Your ultimate standard.

In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
