WALKING IN TRUTH / 2 PETER 2:10

(KJV) 2 Peter 2:10

 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

Scripture warns us that not every spiritual leader speaks for God. In 2 Peter 2:10, the Apostle Peter exposes the hidden motives of false teachers, stating this is especially true of those who follow corrupt desires and despise authority. God promises certain judgment for these leaders due to two major flaws.

False teachers are often driven by the broken impulses of sinful human nature. In this context, Peter draws a direct parallel to the sexual immorality of Sodom, referencing the corrupt practices that led to the city’s destruction. Instead of pursuing holiness, these leaders rewrite God’s standards to justify their own fleshly lusts. They lead their followers astray by treating God’s grace as a license to sin.

The second reason for their judgment is a deep-seated arrogance that rejects restraint. False teachers despise authority, refusing to submit to earthly leaders, heavenly powers, or Christ and His Word.

This rebellion shows up in two distinct ways:

• Rejecting Divine Standards: They dismiss Biblical boundaries that are meant to restrain evil.
• Blaspheming Celestial Beings: As mirrored in Jude 1:8-10, they arrogantly insult and curse angels and heavenly realities they do not understand.

True biblical leadership requires humility and submission to the Lordship of Christ. As believers, we must study the Scriptures daily to recognize these destructive patterns. Guard your heart by aligning yourself with teachers who respect God’s Word, honor authority, and pursue holy living.
