THE LORD … WILL NOT BE WITH YOU / NUMBERS 14:43

(KJV) Numbers 14:43

For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the Lord, therefore the Lord will not be with you.

THE LORD … WILL NOT BE WITH YOU / NUMBERS 14:43

Even though the Israelites pretended to repent and expressed a momentary trust in God’s promises (Numbers 14:40), they ignored God’s warning that He would not be with them. They made the fatal mistake of believing they could possess the promised land without obedience, faith and devoted fellowship with God (Numbers 14:40-44). In their momentary but misguided trust, they were defeated (Numbers 14:45). The important lesson for all believers is that the riches of God’s covenant cannot be obtained without the obedience that comes from faith (Romans 1:5). It is not enough to say that we trust God; it must be lived out in our personal lives. This message is found throughout Scripture (Numbers 32; Deuteronomy 1:20-40; Psalms 95:10; 106:24; Amos 2:10; 5:25; 1 Corinthians 10:1-11; Hebrews 3:7-4:13).
