(KJV) Leviticus 23:24

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.

The Feast of Trumpets occurred on the first day of the seventh month. It probably served as a reminder of and a preparation for the approaching Day of Atonement (Leviticus 23:26-32). God wanted Israel to think about spiritual things, especially their covenant relationship with Him. This was based on God’s laws and promises and the people’s faithfulness to God and His standards.
