REFUSED TO WORSHIP THE IMAGE TO BE KILLED / REVELATION 13:15

(KJV) Revelation 13:15

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

REFUSED TO WORSHIP THE IMAGE TO BE KILLED / REVELATION 13:15

At some point well into the great tribulation, the false prophet will erect and dedicate an image or statue of the antichrist as a focal point of worship (Daniel 3:1). It is possible that some form of the image may be placed in major locations in cities throughout the world. The main image will likely be placed in the temple, which possibly will be rebuilt in Jerusalem (Daniel 9:26-27; Matthew 24:15; 2 Thessalonians 2:4). The second beast is then “given power [by Satan] to give breath to the image.” “Breath” here is a translation of the Greek pneuma (“spirit,” which can refer to any kind of spirit). This could mean that a demonic power somehow makes the image look alive so that it appears to speak. In doing so, the false prophet claims divine power for himself and the antichrist. This may be his greatest deception, as the Bible makes it clear that only God can create and give life (the Hebrew verb bara [“create”] is never uses in the Bible with anyone other than God as the subject; He is the only Creator). By means of this great deception, official authorization will be given to kill all who refuse to worship the world ruler and his images. That is to say many who resist the antichrist and remain faithful to Jesus will be put to death (Revelation 6:9; 14:12-13).

And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

WORSHIP THE FIRST BEAST / REVELATION 13:12

The second beast will attempt to clear the way for the operation of a false church that is ecumenical (promoting common faith among various religions and a blending of different beliefs and practices). Its focus will be the worship of the antichrist. This second beast will bring this about largely by performing great signs and wonders (apparent miracles, Revelation 13:13-14). His ministry will in some ways imitate the supernatural ministry of the Holy Spirit (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10). But God told His people long ago (Deuteronomy 13:1-3) that even though a prophet performs miracles and signs, he is a false prophet if he turns people away from worshiping the one true God.

BUT THE WISDOM THAT COMES FROM HEAVEN / JAMES 3:17-18

The opposite of earthly “wisdom” is heavenly wisdom, or the true wisdom from God. This wisdom is.

  1. “Pure” – with right motives and without moral corruption (James 1:21).
  2. “Peace-loving” – Not contentious or divisive (Matthew 5:9).
  3. “Considerate” – putting others’ concerns before self.
  4. “Submissive” – giving way to what is most beneficial for others.
  5. “Full of mercy and good fruit” – actively compassionate, forgiving and character building.
  6. “Impartial”- consistent and fair.
  7. “Sincere” – genuine and without hypocrisy.

PRAY WITH MY SPIRIT – PRAY WITH MY MIND / 1 CORINTHIANS 14:14-15

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) 1 Corinthians 14:14-15
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

PRAY WITH MY SPIRIT – PRAY WITH MY MIND / 1 CORINTHIANS 14:14-15

Paul refers to his own experience and private use of tongues. “I pray with my spirit” means to pray in tongues with one’s own spirit under the impulse (influence and anointing) of the Holy Spirit. The believer’s spirit prays as the Holy Spirit gives the words and motivation (1 Corinthians 12:7, 11; Acts 2:4). Praying in tongues on a regular basis will build and strengthen one’s spiritual life (1 Corinthians 14:4) because it involves speaking on a spiritual level (1 Corinthians 14:2, 14, 28). Praying in the Spirit can make our prayers more effective. When we do not have the words to fully express our desires and concerns to God, The Holy Spirit can pray through us (Romans 8:26; Romans 8:27). Although we may not see things clearly, the Holy Spirit does; and He knows exactly what to say and do. When Spirit-filled Christians use their “prayer language” in private times with God, the Holy Spirit is actually praying through them in perfect agreement with God’s character, desires and purposes. Although they do not understand what is communicated, they can be confident that this language expresses exactly what is needed. Paul used tongues not only for praying, but also for singing, praising and giving thanks to God (1 Corinthians 14:14-16). To “pray with my mind” means to pray and praise with a language the speaker knows and understands, yet it is also prayer guided and motivated by the Holy Spirit.

HOLY SPIRIT / JOHN 14:26

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

HOLY SPIRIT / JOHN 14:26

The Counselor is in=identified here as the “Holy Spirit.” For New Testament Christians, the most important thing about the Spirit is the fact that He is “Holy.” That is to say, our relationship with the Holy Spirit is not simply about what He does or provides for us (His power, Acts 1:8), but about His character and who He is – “The Holy Spirit.” When referring to God, holiness means purity, perfection, completeness and separation from evil. The Holy Spirit’s character, along from evil. The Holy Spirit’s character, along with the expression of that character in the lives of Christ’s followers, is what matters most (Romans 1:4; Galatians 5:22-26). Those who serve Jesus and have the Spirit living in them must reflect His holiness through moral purity, spiritual wholeness and integrity, separation from evil and devotion to God’s purposes. When the Spirit’s character is evident in the lives of Christians, they will have greater spiritual power and be more effective in communicating Christ’s message to others (which is the primary purpose of the baptism in the Spirit; Acts 1:8).

(KJV) John 14:16

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

I WILL ASK THE FATHER – COUNSELOR / JOHN 14:16

I WILL ASK THE FATHER

John 14:15 suggests that Jesus will ask the Father to give the Counselor only to those who truly love Him and obey His Word. Jesus uses the present tense in John 14:15 (“If you love me”) to point out the need for a continuing attitude of love and obedience.

COUNSELOR

Jesus calls the Holy Spirit “another Counselor,” just as Jesus Himself had been for His disciples. The title “Counselor” translates the Greek parakletos, meaning literally “one called alongside to help.” This is a rich word that refers to a wide range of spiritual roles, such as Counselor, Strengthener, Comforter, Helper, Adviser, Advocate, Intercessor, Ally and Friend. The Greek word for “another” is allon, meaning “another of the same kind,” rather than heteros, meaning “another of a different kind.” Therefore, the Holy Spirit, like Jesus, is also God and will continue what Christ Himself did while on earth.

  1. The Spirit is a personal being who will be by the disciples’ side to help and strengthen them (Matthew 14:30-31), to teach them the truth and guide the course of their lives (John 14:26), to strengthen and comfort them in difficult situations (John 14:18), to intercede (to plead a case for them) through prayer (Romans 8:26-27; 8:34), to be a friend who promotes their best interest (John 14:17) and to remain with them forever.
  2. The word “parakletos” is applied to the Lord Jesus in 1 John 2:1. Jesus is our helper and intercessor (an advocate who pleads our case and represents us) in heaven (Hebrews 7:25), while the Holy Spirit is our helper and intercessor on earth (Romans 8:9; Romans 8:26; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; 2 Corinthians 6:16; 2 Timothy 1:14).

SLAVES, OBEY YOUR EARTHLY MASTER / COLOSSIANS 3:22

(KJV) Colossians 3:22

Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:

SLAVES, OBEY YOUR EARTHLY MASTER / COLOSSIANS 3:22

Paul does not approve of slavery, nor does he authorize revolt against masters. He simply instructs slaves and masters how to conduct themselves in a Christ-honoring way. By doing so, he attempts to change this undesirable situation from within (Philemon 1:10; Philemon 1:12; Philemon 1:14; Philemon 1:15-16; Philemon 1: 17-19; Titus 2:9-10). In the meantime, Paul aims to regulate it to the benefit of all involved (Ephesians 6:5-9; Titus 6:1-2; Titus 2:9-10; 1 Peter 2:18-19).

SAUL WHO WAS ALSO CALLED PAUL – PAUL FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT / ACTS 13:9

(KJV) Acts 13:9

Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,

SAUL WHO WAS ALSO CALLED PAUL – PAUL FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT / ACTS 13:9

SAUL WHO WAS ALSO CALLED PAUL

Saul was a Jewish name, a form of the Hebrew Sha’ul, meaning “asked for.” Paul is a form of the Latin Paulus, meaning “little.” After Paul received a fresh and special filling of the Holy Spirit he became a senior leader of the mission to the Gentiles (those of all nations who are not Israelite or Jewish). This ministry among the Gentiles may be the reason he chose to be known by his Roman name, Paul. Some commentators suggest that because Paul did not want to have a following or a church to be based around himself, he wanted to be known as “the little one.” He wanted to honor and exalt Christ and keep him at the center of the church’s attention – which Paul certainly did.

PAUL FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

PAUL, FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

One may already be baptized in the Spirit, as was Paul (Acts 9:17), yet in times of special need may also receive fresh fillings with the Spirit. Such repeated fillings are necessary,

  1. In confronting opposition to Christian ministry (Acts 4:8; Acts 4:12).
  2. In advancing the massage of Christ (Acts 4:8; Acts 4:31).
  3. In directly challenging Satan’s activity (Acts 13:9; Acts 13:52). Repeated and ongoing fillings with the Spirit should be the normal experience for all Christians who are baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

I AM WITH YOU / MATTHEW 28:20

This promise is Christ’s assurance to His followers who are actively involved in reaching and “winning” those who are spiritually lost (gaining them for Christ’s kingdom) and teaching them to obey His standards of truth. Jesus has risen from the dead and is now alive and active in His followers’ lives. God is personally interested in each one of His children and has promised to be with them in the person of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16; John 14: 26). God is also with us through His Word (John 14:23).

No matter what your status or condition – rich, poor, weak, humble, famous or relatively unknown – H cares for you and watches every detail of your life with loving care. He knows and understands your difficulties and struggles, and He will give you the strength to endure anything with His help (2 Corinthians 12:9). In fact, God’s presence can fill every believer with joy in any circumstances (Psalms 16:11; 21:6). It is both challenging and comforting to know that we cannot escape God’s presence (Psalms 139:7). Jesus’ promise to be “with you” is the Christian’s answer to every fear, every doubt, every trouble, every heartache and every discouragement.
