Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light.
DAY OF THE LORD / AMOS 5:18
The Israelites believes that “the day of the LORD” would be a time when God would judge all their enemies, but honor and reward Israel. Amos shocked them by insisting that when the day came, it would mean severe judgment for Israel as well (Joel 1:15).
