YOU ARE A SHIELD … YOU BESTOW GLORY / PSALMS 3:3
Believers who follow God’s purposes will experience hardship and opposition (Psalms 3:1-2; Psalm 3:2; 2 Samuel 15:12-30). But they can call on God with a confidence that He will take action on their behalf while fulfilling His perfect purposes.
- “Shield” refers to God’s protection (Genesis 15:1, where God is Abraham’s shield; Deuteronomy 33:29, where He is Israel’s shield).
- God bestows “glory” (honor, help and encouragement) to people who take refuge in His presence. Committing ourselves to God’s care and protection gives us power and confidence to rise above life’s troubles.
