BANISH THEM / PSLAMS 5:10

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Psalms 5:10

Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.

Banish Them: Finding Justice in Psalms 5:10

David’s words in Psalms 5:10 are sharp, raw, and uncomfortable. He prays, “Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.” We rarely hear these types of prayers preached on Sunday mornings. Yet, this honest cry for divine justice is a vital part of a healthy faith.

The Heart of Justice

  • Honest pain: David does not mask his hurt with polite language.
  • Relinquished revenge: He hands the judgment over to God instead of taking it into his own hands.
  • Holy alignment: Rebellion against God’s people is ultimately rebellion against God Himself.

Moving From Anger to Trust

When we face betrayal or systemic oppression, our initial instinct is often retaliation. Psalm 5 teaches us a different way. We can cry out for the complete removal and banishment of evil while keeping our own hands clean. We trust that God is the ultimate judge who sees every hidden motive.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We come to You with hearts that are often weighed down by the injustice, deceit, and malice in this world. Lord, we acknowledge the raw pain that comes from being targeted by those who love falsehood. Today, we stand on the truth of Your word in Psalm 5.

We ask You to declare the wicked guilty, Lord. Let their own intrigues be their downfall. Banish the overwhelming presence of evil, oppression, and rebellion from our lives, for we know that their rebellion is ultimately against You.

We choose to leave vengeance in Your hands. Drive away the forces that seek to destroy our peace, and let those who love Your name rejoice in Your divine protection. Cleanse our own hearts from bitterness as You fight our battles.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
