THE WICKED WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM / 1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-10

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

The Deception of Grace Without Transformation: Understanding 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

A dangerous misconception quieted the early church in Corinth, and it continues to echo in our modern culture. It is the belief that we can claim an eternal inheritance in the kingdom of God while actively living in defiance of His holiness.

Some believers in Corinth fell into the trap of thinking that an initial confession of faith granted them a license to pursue immoral, unjust, or selfish pleasures without consequence. They believed their salvation was secure even if they abandoned their relationship with Christ and returned to habitual sin.

The Apostle Paul shatters this illusion with absolute clarity. In 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, he delivers a sobering truth that every believer must weigh carefully: “Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

The Myth of Unchanged Salvation

Paul’s warning is not meant for the outside world; it is directed straight to the Christian community. He uses the phrase “do not be deceived” because he knows how easily human nature seeks to compromise. We desire the benefits of God’s kingdom without submitting to the rule of the King.

Scripture consistently affirms that spiritual death is the sure and final result of habitual, unrepentant sin—even for those who once identified as believers (Romans 8:13). True faith is never static. It is impossible to live solely for selfish, immoral pleasure and still retain a part in God’s eternal kingdom (Romans 6:16; James 1:15).

This was not a new doctrine invented by Paul. He repeated this foundational teaching to multiple churches, including those in Galatia and Ephesus (Galatians 5:21; Ephesians 5:5-6). Centuries earlier, the Old Testament prophets continually warned God’s people against the same self-deception, correcting those who assumed ritual alignment guaranteed immunity from judgment (Jeremiah 8:7; 23:17; Ezekiel 3:10).

True Grace Transforms

Any presentation of “salvation” that does not include the life-transforming, spiritually purifying, and character-building work of the Holy Spirit is an imitation. It has no place in New Testament teaching.

The gospel does not just alter our legal standing before God; it alters our nature. When the Holy Spirit takes up residence in a believer, He begins a relentless work of purification. While we still stumble and battle against temptation, a true child of God cannot remain comfortable in habitual, unhindered wickedness.

If our lives show no evidence of the Holy Spirit’s purifying work, we must urgently examine our hearts. God’s grace is a powerful force that rescues us from our sin, not a shield that allows us to remain in it. Let us reject the deception of a compromise lifestyle and pursue the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We come before You recognizing Your absolute holiness and perfect justice. Lord, guard our hearts against the subtle deception that we can trifle with sin and still claim Your kingdom. Forgive us for the times we have abused Your grace or treated Your mercy as a license for selfishness.

Search us, O God, and know our hearts. Test us and know our anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in us, and lead us in the way everlasting. We ask that Your Holy Spirit work deeply within us today. Purify our desires, transform our character, and build in us a righteous lifestyle that reflects Your glory.

May our lives bear the genuine fruit of salvation, rooted in an authentic, obedient relationship with Jesus Christ. Give us the strength to flee from temptation and to live fully surrendered to Your truth.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.

Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?

Before the Ungodly: Resolving Disputes the Kingdom Way

When conflict arises within the church, how should we respond? In 1 Corinthians 6:1, the Apostle Paul delivers a sharp rebuke to the believers in Corinth: “If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the Lord’s people?”

This passage challenges us to rethink how we handle disagreements and reminds us of the wisdom, maturity, and authority available to us within the body of Christ.

The Problem with Public Courts for Minor Disputes

Paul’s primary concern is that Christians were taking trivial or insignificant issues to secular courts. When we rush to public legal systems over minor disagreements, we damage the testimony of the church.

The church must be fully capable of judging right from wrong, making fair decisions, and exercising godly discipline. Jesus provided a clear, step-by-step framework for resolving personal offenses in Matthew 18:15: handle it privately first, then with witnesses, and finally involve the leadership of the church. Seeking a secular verdict for minor internal issues suggests that worldly judges possess more wisdom than the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Understanding the Boundaries of Paul’s Advice

To apply this teaching correctly today, we must understand what Paul is—and is not—saying:

  • It does not forbid all legal recourse: This teaching does not mean a Christian can never use the court system. Paul himself appealed to Roman law and judicial systems when necessary to protect his safety and ministry (Acts 16:37-39; 25:10-12).
  • It does not excuse abuse or criminal behavior: Paul is not encouraging church members to tolerate unlawful abuse or mistreatment of the innocent, such as widows, children, or the disadvantaged. Openly harmful or criminal actions must never be swept under the rug.
  • It does not support financial abandonment: If a self-proclaimed believer deserts their family and refuses to support them, a spouse has every right to seek legal intervention. God’s word does not advocate for letting people break civil laws, neglect social responsibilities, or threaten the well-being of others.

Embracing a Higher Standard

In 1 Corinthians 6:7, Paul suggests that it is sometimes better to be wronged or cheated than to destroy Christian unity and witness through public lawsuits. He is speaking of minor, disputable matters where an offense can be excused, tolerated, and absorbed for the sake of peace.

Before we demand our “rights,” we must ask ourselves: Will this action build up the body of Christ, or will it cause the outside world to mock the gospel? Let us strive to cultivate a community of grace, accountability, and divine wisdom that resolves conflicts in a way that honors God.

Heavenly Father, Grant us the wisdom to resolve our differences with humility, love, and mutual respect. Forgive us for the times we have allowed pride to disrupt the unity of Your church. Help us to discern when to overlook an offense and give us the courage to handle conflicts according to Your truth. May our relationships reflect Your grace to a world that desperately needs to see Your love in action. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses’ father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the Lord said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the Lord hath spoken good concerning Israel.

Come With Us: The Open Invitation of God’s Grace

When we read the Old Testament, it is easy to assume that God’s blessings were exclusively reserved for one specific nation. However, a closer look at the text reveals a beautiful, consistent thread of inclusivity woven into the story of Israel.

In Numbers 10:29, we witness a powerful moment of invitation. Moses speaks to his brother-in-law, Hobab the Midianite, saying, “Come with us and we will treat you well, for the Lord has promised good things to Israel.”

Moses’ words provide a timeless blueprint for how we should share our faith today.

An Invitation to the Outsider

Hobab was not an Israelite. He was a Midianite—a Gentile. Yet, Moses did not view God’s promises as a private treasure to be hoarded. Instead, he extended a warm, urgent invitation to someone outside the covenant community to join the journey.

The opportunity to make the God of Israel their own God was always available to the surrounding nations. God’s ultimate plan has never been to exclude, but to bless the entire world through His people.

Overcoming the First “No”

Scripture indicates that Hobab initially rejected the invitation, preferring to return to his own land and kindred. However, later passages in Judges 1:16; Judges 4:11 suggest that he, or at least his descendants, eventually chose to join Israel.

This is a profound reminder for anyone sharing the gospel today: a initial “no” is not always a final answer. Seeds of faith take time to grow.

A Beautiful Tapestry of Grace

Hobab is not an isolated case. Throughout biblical history, God continually welcomed outsiders who chose to put their trust in Him:

  • Rahab: A Canaanite woman who hid the spies and became part of the lineage of Jesus Christ.
  • Ruth: A Moabite widow who declared, “Your people shall be my people, and your God my God,” also entering the royal line of David.
  • The Gentile Church: Today, all believers from every nation are grafted into these same spiritual promises through Jesus Christ.

The message of Numbers 10:29 remains active today. We are called to look at the people in our lives—regardless of their background, past, or doubts—and say with confidence and love: “Come with us.”

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the beautiful truth that Your grace knows no boundaries. Thank You that Your invitation to experience Your goodness, mercy, and salvation is extended to all people, from every nation and walk of life.

Give us the heart of Moses—a heart that is eager to invite others into the blessings of Your kingdom. Grant us the courage to speak up, the love to welcome the outsider, and the patience to keep praying for those who say ‘no’ at first.

We pray for our friends, family members, and neighbors who do not yet know You. Open their hearts to hear Your voice, and use our lives as a testimony of Your goodness. May they choose to come with us and experience the fullness of Your promises.

And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the Lord your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.

You Will Be Remembered: The Trumpet Call of Prayer

Life often feels like a battlefield. We face unexpected struggles, emotional battles, and spiritual warfare that can leave us feeling overwhelmed and outnumbered. In those moments, we desperately want to know that God is on our side and that He sees what we are going through.

A powerful truth about how God responds to His people in times of crisis is found in the book of Numbers.

The Condition for Victory

In the Old Testament, God provided specific instructions on how His people were to signal for help during times of trouble:

“When you go to war in your land against the enemy who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the Lord your God, and you will be saved from your enemies.”
— Numbers 10:9

God promised victory, but that promise came with a condition. The Israelites had to sound the trumpets.

This act of blowing the trumpets was not just a military tactic; it was an act of faith. It was a public declaration that they could not win the battle in their own strength. By sounding the alarm, they were actively casting their cares upon the Lord and inviting Him into their struggle. Only when the trumpets blasted did God move to save them.

Prayer Is Our Trumpet Call

Today, we no longer carry physical silver trumpets into our daily battles. Instead, we have something even more powerful: prayer.

Prayer is our spiritual trumpet call. It is our way of crying out for God’s grace, protection, and presence. Just as God placed certain conditions on the Israelites, He desires consistency from us. God may not move on our behalf if we refuse to draw near to Him. He respects our free will and waits for us to invite Him into our situations.

When you pray, you are not informing God of things He doesn’t know. You are aligning your heart with His power. You are announcing to the spiritual realm that you rely fully on the Almighty.

He Remembers You

The most beautiful part of Numbers 10:9 is the divine guarantee: “you will be remembered before the Lord your God.”

God never forgets His children. However, when we lift our voices in prayer, we activate His covenant promises over our lives. Your prayers pierce through the noise of this world and reach the ears of the Father. No matter how fierce your battle looks today, do not stay silent. Sound your trumpet. Cry out to Him in prayer, and trust that He hears, He remembers, and He saves.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the assurance that You never leave me nor forsake me. Lord, the battles around me feel intense, and I cannot fight them in my own strength. Today, I lift up my voice as a trumpet call to You. I ask for Your divine intervention, Your protection, and Your overwhelming peace to guard my heart.

Forgive me for the times I have tried to fight in my own power instead of turning to You first. I trust in Your promise that when I call upon Your name, I am remembered. Deliver me from the enemies of fear, anxiety, and defeat. Let Your presence go before me and secure the victory.

Led by the Cloud and the Fire: Finding Balance in Divine Guidance

Imagine living in a vast, unpredictable desert. Resources are scarce, paths are non-existent, and survival is a daily question mark. For the ancient Israelites, this wasn’t a hypothetical scenario—it was their daily reality. Yet, they were never left to wander aimlessly.

In Numbers 9:15-23, we find one of the most beautiful pictures of God’s intentionality and care for His people: the cloud and the fire.

The Supernatural Sign: Provision and Protection

The Bible tells us that from the day the Tabernacle was set up, a cloud covered it by day, and a appearance of fire rested over it at night. This was not just a weather anomaly; it was a visible sign of the living God dwelling among His people.

  • By Day: The cloud offered vital shade from the blistering desert sun.
  • By Night: The fire provided warmth against the freezing desert chill and light in the pitch darkness.

This supernatural sign served as a constant reminder of divine provision, protection, and guidance. The Israelites did not have to guess when to move or where to go. When the cloud lifted, they broke camp. When the cloud settled, they stayed—whether for a day, a month, or a year. Their entire lives were synchronized with the rhythm of God’s presence.

The Intersection of Divine Guidance and Human Wisdom

It is easy to look at this story and think, “If only I had a literal cloud to follow, knowing God’s will would be so much easier.” But biblical guidance is rarely passive.

An incredible detail emerges just one chapter later in Numbers 10:29-32. Despite having a supernatural cloud leading them, Moses asks his brother-in-law, Hobab, to accompany them and serve as “eyes” for the camp because Hobab knew the desert terrain.

This reveals a profound spiritual truth: God’s supernatural guidance does not eliminate the need for human wisdom and planning.

Obeying God and following His will requires a beautiful partnership:

  1. God’s Supernatural Direction: Trusting His timing and sovereign alignment.
  2. Our Sanctified Wisdom: Using our brains, practical planning, and expert counsel, always anchored in the principles of God’s Word.

We must remain close to Him at all times, ensuring our practical planning never detours away from His moral boundaries and protective will.

The Promise for Us Today

God’s promise to lead His people did not expire in the Old Testament. Today, you may not see a pillar of cloud outside your window, but you have something even more permanent.

If you believe in Christ, God guides you by His Word and His Holy Spirit (Romans 8:4). He promises to make straight the paths of all who acknowledge and accept Him as Savior and Guide. Whether through the quiet prompting of the Spirit, the timeless wisdom of Scripture, or the godly counsel of others, the Lord is actively directing your steps (Proverbs 3:6; Psalms 37:23).

When you don’t know what the next season holds, trust the rhythm of the Cloud. If He says stay, rest and grow. If He says move, pack your bags and step out in faith.

A Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being a God who does not leave us to wander aimlessly through the deserts of life. Thank You for Your constant presence, Your supernatural protection, and Your faithful provision. Give us the patience to stay when Your cloud rests, and the courage to move when You lift us into a new season. Grant us the wisdom to make practical, godly decisions that align perfectly with the truth of Your Word. Guide our steps today by Your Holy Spirit, and let our lives be a reflection of Your leadership. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.

Chosen and Redeemed: Understanding Numbers 8:17

In Numbers 8:17, God declares a profound truth: “Every firstborn… is mine.” This statement reminds us of God’s absolute ownership over His creation and His specific claim on those He rescues.

Originally, every firstborn male in Israel belonged directly to the Lord as a living reminder of the Passover protection in Egypt. However, God beautifully structured a system of substitution. He accepted the tribe of Levi to serve in place of the firstborn of all Israel.

This Old Testament pattern points directly to the ultimate substitution in the New Testament. We are not our own; we have been bought with a price. Jesus Christ became our perfect substitute, paying the debt we owed so that we could belong fully to God as His treasured possession.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We acknowledge today that everything we have and everything we are belongs to You. Thank You for the powerful reminder in Your Word that You claim us as Your own. We praise You for the beautiful mystery of substitution—that just as the Levites stood in place of the firstborn, Jesus stood in our place to redeem us.

Forgive us for the times we try to claim ownership over our own lives. Help us to surrender our desires, our talents, and our futures into Your hands. Teach us to live daily with the joy and security of knowing we belong to the Creator of the universe.

Set the Levites Apart: The Call to Godly Separation

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it is easy to blend into the crowd. We adopt the habits, mindsets, and values of the culture around us, often without realizing it. But throughout Scripture, God calls His people to a different standard—a standard of holy distinction.

In the Book of Numbers, we find a powerful picture of this calling in the consecration of the Levites.

The Divine Command

“You shall separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be Mine.” — Numbers 8:14

The Levites were chosen for a specific, sacred purpose: to care for the Tabernacle and assist the priests. However, their appointment was not just about fulfilling practical duties. By their very lifestyle, the Levites served as a living, breathing symbol of the godly separation that was meant to characterize the entire nation of Israel. They were in the world, but entirely set apart for God’s purposes.

What Does “Set Apart” Mean for Us?

Today, believers are called to a similar posture. We are called to be a “royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people” (1 Peter 2:9).

Living a set-apart life does not mean isolating ourselves from society. Instead, it means our hearts, choices, and character should point others to God.

  • Separation in Purpose: Dedicating our daily work, talents, and time to honor God rather than seeking selfish ambition.
  • Separation in Character: Choosing integrity, kindness, and purity even when the world rewards shortcuts and compromise.
  • Separation in Devotion: Guarding our hearts against modern-day idols and ensuring that God holds the ultimate priority in our lives.

When we embrace this calling, we become living examples of God’s grace, drawing others closer to His light.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for calling us out of darkness and into Your marvelous light. Just as You set the Levites apart for Your holy work, we ask that You consecrate our hearts today. Help us to live lives that reflect Your holiness, love, and truth to the world around us.

LEVITES … AS A WAVE OFFERING / NUMBERS 8:11

(KJV) Numbers 8:11

And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the Lord for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the Lord.

Set Apart: Living as a Living Wave Offering

Have you ever given a gift that cost you everything, only to realize the true gift was the relationship it built?

In the Old Testament, worship was tangible. It involved altars, incense, and specific physical actions. One of the most unique actions was the wave offering.

What is a Wave Offering?

In Leviticus 7:28-34, the wave offering (tenuphah in Hebrew) was a specific portion of the fellowship offering. The priest would physically lift the offering and wave it before the Lord.

  • The Action: Waving or lifting the item toward the altar.
  • The Meaning: It demonstrated that the item was given to God first.
  • The Result: God then gave that portion back to the priests for their sustenance.

It was a beautiful visual receipt. It showed everyone that God accepted the person’s offering for service.

The Ultimate Twist: People as the Offering

In Numbers 8:11, God introduces a radical shift in how this offering is applied:

“Aaron shall offer the Levites before the Lord as a wave offering from the Israelites, that they may be ready to do the work of the Lord.”

God did not ask for a piece of grain or the breast of a ram. He asked for the people themselves.

The Levites became the offering. They were lifted up, set aside, and consecrated. They became the living symbol of holy things dedicated entirely to God’s use. They did not just bring sacrifices; their very lives were the sacrifice.

Your Calling as a Modern-Day Levite

Today, if you follow Christ, you belong to a “royal priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9). You might not be a Levite living in ancient Israel, but the call remains exactly the same. You are called to be a living wave offering.

Living as a wave offering means:

  • Relinquishing Ownership: Recognizing your time, talents, and future belong to God.
  • Visible Alignment: Living openly so others see your life is dedicated to a higher purpose.
  • Readiness for Service: Being available whenever and wherever God prompts you to move.

When we allow God to lift us up and set us apart, we find our true purpose. We stop living for our own ambitions and start living for His eternal kingdom.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the beautiful picture of the wave offering in Scripture. Thank You for reminding us that You do not just want our external rituals; You want our hearts.

Called, Cleansed, and Commissioned: The Setting Apart of the Levites

In the book of Numbers, we often get caught up in the census data, the travel itineraries, and the strict rules. However, hidden within these chapters are profound pictures of God’s heart for ministry, service, and community. Numbers 8:6-26 provides a beautiful, detailed look at the ordination and dedication of the Levites—the tribe chosen to assist the priests and care for the Tabernacle.

Their story is not just ancient history. It serves as a powerful blueprint for how God calls, cleanses, and commissions His people for service today.

1. The Call to Cleansing (Numbers 8:6-7)

God commands Moses to “take the Levites from among the Israelites and make them ceremonially clean.” The process was intense: they were sprinkled with cleansing water, required to shave their whole bodies, and commanded to wash their clothes.

Before the Levites could do a single ounce of work in the Tabernacle, they had to be purified. This reminds us that God is always more concerned with our character than our competence. He does not just want our skills; He wants our holiness. In modern ministry, it is easy to rush into “doing” things for God while neglecting our inner life. God invites us first to come to Him for cleansing, laying down our old habits and mindsets so we can serve Him with pure hearts.

2. The Support of the Community (Numbers 8:9-11)

One of the most moving parts of this ceremony is found in Numbers 8:10: “You are to bring the Levites before the Lord, and the Israelites are to lay their hands on them.”

Ministry was never meant to be a solo venture. By laying hands on the Levites, the entire community of Israel was saying, “We see your calling, we affirm your leadership, and we stand behind you.” The Levites were stepping into full-time service on behalf of the people. Today, our leaders, pastors, and volunteers still need that same communal backing. We are called to lift up, resource, and pray for those who serve, recognizing that we are all part of one body working toward the same mission.

3. A Lifetime of Service—With Grace (Numbers 8:23-26)

The passage concludes with the retirement rules for the Levites. They were to begin their active service at age twenty-five and retire from the heavy lifting at age fifty. But notice what happens after fifty: they do not just disappear. Numbers 8:26 says they can still “assist their brothers in performing their duties at the tent of meeting,” but they themselves do not do the heavy work.

This is a beautiful picture of God’s grace and organizational wisdom. God protects His servants from burnout. Furthermore, it highlights the value of mentorship. The older generation was transitionally stepped back from heavy labor so the younger generation could step up, while the elders remained close by to offer wisdom, guidance, and support.

Final Thoughts

Whether you serve in a formal church staff position, volunteer on the greeting team, or minister to your family and coworkers daily, remember the pattern of the Levites. You are called by God. You are cleansed by the grace of Jesus. You are backed by a community of believers. And you are called to run your race faithfully, passing the torch of faith to those who come after you.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the beautiful reminder in Your Word that You care deeply about how we serve You. Just as You called the Levites to a life of dedication, we recognize that You have called us to live lives set apart for Your glory.

Lord, we ask for Your continuous cleansing. Wash away our compromises, our pride, and our selfish ambitions. Purify our hearts so that our service to You and to others comes from a place of genuine love and holiness. We pray for our church communities, asking that You help us support, encourage, and uplift one another in our unique callings.

Give us the wisdom to serve faithfully in every season of life—whether we are stepping into new responsibilities or passing the torch to the next generation. May our lives be a living sacrifice, pleasing and holy in Your sight.

The Beautiful Feet of Peace: Finding Hope in Nahum 1:15

We live in a world bombarded by breaking news. Too often, the headlines bring anxiety, conflict, and grief. But thousands of years ago, amidst the terror of an invading empire, a prophet named Nahum delivered a different kind of headline. It was a message of pure, unadulterated good news.

Nahum 1:15 declares: “Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!”

If these words sound familiar, it is because they echo the famous words of Isaiah 52:7 and are later quoted by the Apostle Paul in Romans 10:15. When God repeats a message across the spans of biblical history, He wants us to pay close attention.

The Good News of Deliverance

To understand the power of this verse, we have to look at the original audience. The people of Judah were living under the constant, terrifying threat of the Assyrian Empire. The Assyrians were notorious for their cruelty and ruthless warfare. Fear was a daily reality.

But Nahum’s prophecy brought a sudden halt to that fear. The good news for Judah was simple and definitive: the enemy would be completely destroyed. They would no longer attack Judah’s cities. The oppressor was broken, and God’s people could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

From Political Peace to Eternal Freedom

As New Testament believers, this imagery takes on an even deeper, more glorious meaning.

Just as the messenger ran over the mountains to tell Judah they were safe from Assyria, New Testament preachers, missionaries, and everyday believers carry a message of ultimate rescue. When we share the gospel, we are bringing the greatest news the world could ever receive:

  • Freedom from Bondage: We are no longer slaves to the power of sin or the grip of Satan.
  • True Peace: We receive reconciliation and a restored relationship with our Creator.
  • Eternal Life: We are given the promise of forever fellowship with Jesus Christ.

Paul highlights this in Romans 10:15 to show how beautiful it is when someone steps out to share Christ. The message of the cross is the ultimate announcement of victory over our greatest spiritual enemies.

The Final Deliverance

The promise of Nahum 1:15 points forward to an ultimate, future reality. Just as Assyria fell, God has already determined a time in the future when all evil will be permanently undone.

According to the triumphs detailed in Revelation 19-21, a day is coming when sickness and sorrow will be completely removed from the presence of God’s people. The ungodly world will be judged, and Satan will be thrown into the fiery lake for eternity. The ultimate enemy will be completely destroyed, never to threaten us again.

Today, if you are feeling overwhelmed by the brokenness of this world, remember the runner on the mountain. The victory has already been won. Peace is here, and an eternity of joy is on the horizon. Let us be the ones who carry this beautiful news to a world that desperately needs to hear it.

We thank You that You are a God who delivers His people from fear and oppression. Thank You for the ultimate good news found in Your Son, Jesus Christ. We praise You that through His victory on the cross, we have been set free from the bondage of sin and the power of darkness.

Lord, make our feet beautiful today. Give us the courage, opportunity, and desire to share this message of peace and eternal life with those around us. We hold tightly to the promise of Your future kingdom, where sorrow, pain, and evil will be no more. Keep our eyes fixed on that eternal hope.

In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
