HORSE … FIERY RED ONE / REVELATION 6:4

And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

HORSE … FIERY RED ONE / REVELATION 6:4

The red horse and its rider represent war and violent death, with the “great sword” symbolizing war’s destruction, which God will allow as part of His wrath on the world (Zechariah 1:8; 6:2).

The word “they” refers to the people of the earth. The Greek word for “kill” does not carry the straightforward meaning of death in battle, but brutal killing of all kinds. The tribulation will be a time of violence, murder and war.

A WHITE HORSE / REVELATION 6:2

(KJV) Revelation 6:2
And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

A WHITE HORSE / REVELATION 6:2

Four horsemen appear as the first four seals are opened (the imagery of the horsemen relates back to Zechariah 1:8-17; 6:1-8). representing God’s judgment on the corrupt and evil world system and the ungodly people who are part of it. The rider of the white horse is thought by many Bible interpreters to be the antichrist (1 John 2:18), the future world ruler who is to begin his activity at the beginning of the last seven years of this age. God will permit him to deceive all who oppose Christ. His initial conquest will be accomplished without open warfare since peace is taken from the earth beginning with the second horseman (Revelation 6:4; Daniel 9:26-27; 1 Thessalonians 5:3). Yet, all the other horsemen are personifications (abstract concepts described with human traits, such as “Death” as the fourth horseman), so the rider on the white horse may simply represent conquest or a strong spirit of antichrist let loose in the end time. Even so, the strong desire for conquest that has dominated every dictator in the past will certainly characterize the antichrist.

BLOT OUT HIS NAME / REVELATION 3:5

(KJV) Revelation 3:5
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

BLOT OUT HIS NAME / REVELATION 3:5

This appears to be the “book” first mentioned in Exodus 32:32-33. It describes a sort of registry of citizenship in God’s kingdom. This verse clearly teaches of the very real possibility of members of God’s kingdom having their names removed from the book of life. This can happen to any person who experiences salvation and a personal relationship with Christ, but later refuses to remain faithful to Him and allow His power to help them overcome the evil around them and the sinful nature within them (Revelation 2:7). To have one’s name blotted out of the book of life is to give up eternal life with God (Revelation 2:7, 10-11) and to be condemned to the lake of fire in the end (Revelation 20:15). This is a direct warning from the Holy Spirit to Christ’s churches (Revelation 3:6; 13:8; 17:8; 20:12; 21:27; Exodus 32:32).

A FEW PEOPLE IN SARDIS / REVELATION 3:4

Throughout church history, there have always been a faithful few (often referred to as “a remnant”, Isaiah 11:11; Jeremiah 23:3; Zephaniah 3:13; Zechariah 8:12) who have not “soiled their clothes” with sin and unfaithfulness to God. Instead, they have remained spiritually pure, devoted to Christ and committed to His original messages as passed on through His faithful messengers throughout the New Testament (2 Corinthians 11:3).

YOU ARE DEAD / REVELATION 3:1-2

The church in Sardis was spiritually lifeless, with only a few of its members remining faithful to the true message of Christ. Outwardly, it appeared alive and active and had a reputation of success and spirituality; but the church was relying on past experiences. It may have had what seemed to be effective ministries and a dynamic form of worship, but not the true purity and power of the Holy Spirit. The church’s reputation may have fooled a lot of people, but Jesus saw the inner lives and hearts of the people. He saw a form of religion, but not true spiritual life (2 Timothy 3:5). There must have still been a glimmer of hope and life if the church turned from their own way and back to God, obeying what He had shown them in the past (Revelation 3:2-3), The condition of the church in Sardis should prompt churches and individual Christians today to ask: Are we coasting spiritually and relying on our image, traditions and past experiences, or are we genuinely alive and growing spiritually?

I WILL GIVE THE MORNING STAR / REVELATION 2:28

This phrase likely refers to the sun – the star that brings the morning – as a symbol of Christ Himself, the “sun of righteousness” (Malachi 4:2), who brings us into God’s light of eternal life. The Prophet Malachi also refers to this sun as having “healing in its wings” (in its rays). So, by giving His faithful people “the Morning Star,” Jesus says He will give Himself in a new and deeper way that brings healing, restoration and all the promises and benefits of life in God’s radiant light.

Just as there will be degrees of reward in heaven (1 Corinthians 15:41-42), so there will also be degrees of punishment in hell. Those who are eternally lost and condemned spiritually will somehow experience different levels of punishment according to how they handled or disregarded their God-given privileges and responsibilities in life (Matthew 23:14; Hebrews 10:29).

For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Transforming Your Perspective: What It Truly Means to Have the Mind of Christ

Have you ever looked at the world around you and felt a deep, undeniable disconnect? As believers, we are often caught between the constant noise of modern culture and the quiet, persistent whisper of truth. The Apostle Paul addresses this exact tension in his first letter to the Corinthians, concluding a profound discussion on divine wisdom with a startling, beautiful reality: “For ‘who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16)

But what does it actually mean to possess the mind of Christ? It is not about reaching a state of intellectual superiority or academic theology. It is a radical, supernatural rewriting of how we think, feel, and live.

Here is what happens when the Holy Spirit aligns our minds with the Savior.

1. Aligning with His Will and Restorative Plan

To have the mind of Christ means we begin to understand His ultimate will—His plans, desires, and purposes rooted firmly in His unchanging character. Through the Holy Spirit, God reveals what human eyes have not seen and ears have not heard (1 Corinthians 2:9-10). We stop viewing history as a series of random events and start seeing it as God’s grand narrative to restore broken people into a deeply personal relationship with Himself.

2. Seeing Through a Heavenly Lens

Possessing His mind alters our spiritual vision. We begin to evaluate our circumstances, our relationships, and our culture from God’s perspective rather than a human one (1 Corinthians 2:15). This means our values shift. We actively learn to love what He loves—justice, mercy, truth, and people—and hate what He hates—pride, injustice, and deceit (Hebrews 1:9).

3. Understanding Holiness and the Gravity of Sin

The closer we get to the heart of Christ, the more clearly we perceive God’s absolute holiness—His flawless purity, perfection, and complete separation from evil. Consequently, we no longer minimize or excuse sin. We see sin for what it truly is: an awful, destructive force that breaks fellowship with a holy God. The mind of Christ creates in us a desire for purity and a grief over the things that grieve Him.

4. Embracing Humility and Servanthood

Perhaps the most tangible evidence of Christ’s mind in us is a drastic shift in our attitude toward others. In Philippians 2:3-8, Paul connects the mind of Christ directly to humility, servanthood, and selflessness. Having His mind means intentionally putting the needs and best interests of others above our own. It mirrors the exact love Jesus showed when He emptied Himself, took the form of a servant, and gave His life to save us.

A Different Way of Living

When we receive and follow the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:12), our worldview and values become fundamentally different from the shifting wisdom of this world. The world screams for self-preservation, promotion, and personal gain. Christ models sacrifice, humility, and surrender.

We cannot effectively live for Him using the world’s logic. To navigate this life with impact, purpose, and peace, we must actively surrender our thoughts and ask daily to operate in the beautiful reality we have already been granted: the mind of Jesus Christ.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the incredible gift of Your Holy Spirit, who searches the deep things of God and reveals them to us. Forgive us for the times we have allowed the wisdom, anxieties, and patterns of this world to dictate our thoughts and choices.

Lord, we lean into the truth of Your Word today: we have the mind of Christ. We ask that You would make this reality vibrant and active in our daily lives. Give us the grace to see our circumstances through Your eyes, to adopt Your eternal values, and to love what You love. Grant us a deeper reverence for Your holiness and a heart that flees from sin.

Uproot pride and selfishness from our hearts. Replace it with the humility and servant-hearted love of Jesus, so that we may naturally look to the interests of others before our own. Let our lives be a distinct, radiant reflection of Your kingdom to a world that desperately needs Your restoration.

Words Taught by the Spirit: How God Wrote His Book

Have you ever wondered how the Bible transitioned from the mind of God to pages we can hold in our hands? In 1 Corinthians 2:13, the Apostle Paul writes about speaking “not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit.” While Paul was describing his own preaching, this passage pulls back the curtain on a profound reality: the divine process of Biblical inspiration.

The Holy Spirit did not just give the biblical writers good ideas; He guided the very words they used. Here are the five divine steps by which the Holy Spirit inspired the writing of Scripture.

Step 1: The Divine Desire to Communicate

God did not want His wisdom to remain a secret. He deeply desired to communicate His eternal plans to humankind (1 Corinthians 2:7-9). This wisdom centers entirely on His purpose to restore us to a personal relationship with Himself through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Step 2: The Spirit as the Only Source

Human intellect cannot guess the mind of God. It is only through the Holy Spirit that God’s truth and wisdom are revealed to humanity (1 Corinthians 2:10). Because the Spirit is Himself God, He knows the thoughts of God perfectly and fully (1 Corinthians 2:11).

Step 3: The Chosen Vessels

God did not shout His Word from the clouds; He chose human vessels. His divine revelation was given to specific believers through the active presence of the Holy Spirit living within them (1 Corinthians 2:12).

Step 4: Words Taught by the Spirit

This is where revelation became Scripture. The writers of the Bible recorded the exact words taught by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:13). The Spirit did not just direct their general thoughts; He guided their very choice of words so that they communicated exactly what God intended.

Yet, this was not mechanical dictation. The Spirit’s guidance was beautifully personal, utilizing each writer’s unique vocabulary, background, and individual style, while protecting the text from any error.

Step 5: Spiritual Discernment for the Believer

The process comes full circle with us. Because the Bible is a spiritual book, human logic alone cannot unlock its deepest truths. Believers can understand God-inspired Scripture today because the same Holy Spirit who wrote the Word lives inside us, giving us insight to examine and understand its content (1 Corinthians 2:14-16).

Heavenly Father,

We stand in awe of Your holy wisdom and Your deep desire to be known by us. Thank You for not leaving us in the dark, but for breathing out Your perfect truth through the Holy Spirit into the holy Scriptures.

Thank You for guiding the very words of the authors, giving us a bedrock of truth that is completely reliable, flawless, and free from error. Forgive us for the times we take this miraculous Book for granted.

Open our eyes by that same Spirit today. Give us discernment, wisdom, and a hunger to understand Your thoughts. Let Your words transform our hearts, renew our minds, and draw us closer to Jesus, in whose name we pray, Amen.
