THE FIRST RESURRECTION / REVELATION 20:6

(KJV) Revelation 20:6

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

The term “resurrection” includes the raising to life of Christ and all God’s faithful people of all time. They live and have eternal life because Christ brought triumph and victory over death through His own resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20-24). This is in contrast to the resurrection of all who died in their sins without ever accepting God’s gracious salvation; they will be raised only to face final judgment at the end of the millennium (Revelation 20:12-13; Isaiah 26:19-21; Daniel 12:2, 13: Matthew 27:52-53; John 11:25-26; 14:19; 1 Corinthians 15:20, 52).
