(KJV) Nahum 1:15
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
GOOD NEWS / NAHUM 1:15
This passage is similar to the passage in Isaiah 52:7.
- The good news for Judah was that the Assyrians would be completely destroyed so they could no longer attack their cities.Â
In the same way, New Testament preachers, missionaries and anyone who spreads the message about forgiveness and new life through faith in Christ are also bringing good news. In fact, this is the greatest news we could receive because it announces freedom from the bondage of sin and Satan’s power. It also provides the opportunity for peace and eternal life with God (Romans 10:15, which uses the image in this passage to make the pint about messengers of the gospel of Christ). At a time in the future that is determined by God, sickness and sorrow will be totally removed from the presence of God’s people, the ungodly world will be destroyed, and Satan will be thrown into the fiery lake for eternity (Revelation 19-21).
