FROGS / REVELATION 16:13

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Revelation 16:13

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

FROGS / REVELATION 16:13

These evil spirits are demons who can work miracles and deceive the nations in order to support evil, sin and the antichrist. The “dragon” must be identified with Satan (Revelation 12:7-9) and the “beast” with the anti-christ (Revelation 13). The fact that they come out of the mouths of the unholy trio may indicate some sort of communication or lying message to the world. However, these particular spirits do not focus on common people; their attention is on manipulating world rulers.

THE KINGDOMS OF THE WORLD / LUKE 4:5

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

THE KINGDOMS OF THE WORLD / LUKE 4:5

Satan tempts Jesus with the offer of rulership over all the kingdoms of the world, a proposal that Jesus rejects. This could be viewed as an appeal for material wealth, possessions, and power.

  1. Jesus’s kingdom in this age is not a worldly kingdom (John 18:36-37).  Throughout His ministry, Jesus would refuse to seek a kingdom for Himself by the worldly methods of compromise, earthly power, political maneuvering, external violence, or personal popularity.
  2. Jesus’ kingdom is a spiritual one, established in the hearts of His people, who have also refused to follow the ungodly ways of the world. As a heavenly kingdom,
  3. It is gained through suffering, self-denial, humility, and meekness – the opposite of how worldly people pursue power.
  4. It requires surrendering ourselves as living and holy sacrifices (Romans 12:1) – completely devoted and obedient to God and His purposes.
  5. It involves a battle against Satan, sin, temptation, and evil using spiritual weapons (Ephesians 6:10-20).
  6. It means resisting conformity to the beliefs, behaviors and lifestyles that are common in the world (Romans 12:2).
  7. Satan’s appeal to worship him was an attempt to get Jesus to take a quick route to world domination – to avoid the humility and sufferings that would lead Jesus’ death on the cross. That is to say, the devil was trying to get Jesus to lay aside His entire purpose for coming to earth (Matthew 4:10). Christ’s willingness to face all the difficulties that lay ahead is an example to all believers. He taught us that there are no shortcuts to fulfilling God’s perfect purposes for our lives, not matter how tempting the options may seem.

WAR IN HEAVEN / REVELATION 12:7-9

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Revelation 12:7-9

And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

WAR IN HEAVEN / REVELATION 12:7-9

The tribulation will involve not only great spiritual conflict on earth, but also war in heaven. Battling against Michael (whom Jude calls the archangel, or “chief angel”) and his angels, Satan and his angels will put forth a final effort to defeat God’s angels and his ultimate plans. Up to this time, Satan and his demons have been rulers of authority in the spirit world with significant realms of influence. They have been “powers of this dark world” and “spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms: (Ephesians 6:12). Yet, Michael goes on the offense and launches the attack on Satan, giving a sign that the devil’s wicked rule is about to end. Satan’s power is no match for the angels who have always remined loyal to God.

  1. Satan is defeated, hurled down to earth (Luke 10:18) and allowed no further access to heaven.
  2. Heaven rejoices (Revelation 12:10-12), for Satan is no longer a spiritual force in heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). At the same time, this event causes “woe” to those on earth (Revelation 12:12-13), where he will still have power. However, his time at this point is short and his final defeat is very near. This fall of Satan may begin the great tribulation – the latter half, and most intense part, of the seven years before Christ’s return to earth. At the end of the tribulation time, the antichrist will be defeated and thrown into the lake of fire and Satan will be bound and thrown into the Abyss, freeing the world of his evil schemes for a thousand years (Revelation 20:1-3). Following that time, Satan will be released briefly to deceive those who are not completely devoted to Christ and to make a final assault against the godly. But in the end, he will be defeated completely and thrown into the lake of fire for eternity (Revelation 20:7-10).

DEVIL AND HIS ANGELS / MATTHEW 25:41

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Matthew 25:41

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

DEVIL AND HIS ANGELS / MATTHEW 25:41

In his initial rebellion against God (Matthew 4:10), Satan misled a third of the angels who were in heaven (Revelation 12:4). It appears that some of them are already in hell, awaiting final judgment (2 Peter 2:4; Jude 1:6), while the rest are still loose and operating under Satan’s authority and control (Matthew 12:24; 25:41; Ephesians 2:2; Revelation 12:7). These fallen angels serve as his highly organized force of agents, carrying out his evil purposes on earth (Ephesians 6:11-12). They likely can be identified with the demons frequently referred to in the Bible. Notice that hell was not originally created for people, and God does not desire to send people there. In a very real sense, people send themselves there by refusing to accept the forgiveness God provides through Jesus’ sacrifice and by failing to yield their lives to Jesus. By hanging on to their sins (offenses against God), people choose to accept the extreme consequences of working against God and rejecting His mercy, which will be punishment and eternal separation from Him.

THE WOMAN … ATE IT … HER HUSBAND … WITH HER / GENESIS 3:6

START YOUR DAY RIGHT WITH DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Genesis 3:6

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

THE WOMAN … ATE IT … HER HUSBAND … WITH HER / GENESIS 3:6

When Adam and Eve sinned, moral and spiritual death came immediately (Genesis 2:17; John 17:3). Physical death came later (Genesis 5:5).

  1. God had said, “when you eat of it you will surely die” (Genesis 2:17). Morally, God’s life died in them, and their nature became sinful. They became morally corrupt and impure in contrast to God’s perfect and pure nature. Spiritually, their former relationship with God was destroyed. Their former innocence was replaced by guilt and fear of judgment. Since then, every person born comes into the world with a sinful nature (Romans 8:5-8). This corruption of human nature involves an innate (inborn) desire and strong pull toward choosing the way that seeks satisfaction for self without concern for God or others. The sinful nature is passed on to all human beings (Genesis 5:3; 6:5; 8:21; Romans 3:10-18; Ephesians 2:3).
  2. The Bible does not teach that all sinned when Adam sinned or that his personal guilt was placed on the whole human race (Romans 5:12). It does teach that Adam introduced the law of sin and death to the whole human race (Romans 5:12; 8:2; 1Corinthians 15:21-22), and since then every person has chosen to go his or her own way (Isaiah 53:6).

YOU WILL BE LIKE GOD / GENESIS 3:5

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Genesis 3:5

For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

YOU WILL BE LIKE GOD / GENESIS 3:5

Satan has always tempted individuals to believe that they can be like God and decide for themselves what is good and what is evil, what is right and what is wrong.

  1. An unexpected result in trying to be “like God” was the reality that Adam and Eve separated themselves from God Almighty and became false gods to themselves (Genesis 3:22; John 10:34). People still try to gain moral knowledge and make ethical judgements using their own reasoning rather than God’s Word. But God is still the ultimate judge of what is right and wrong.
  2. Scripture says that all who act like they are their own gods “will perish form the earth and from under the Heavens” (Jeremiah 10:10-11). This will also be the fate of the antichrist, who will claim “to be God” (2 Thessalonians 2:4).

YOU WILL NOT SURELY DIE / GENESIS 3:4

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION

(KJV) Genesis 3:4
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

YOU WILL NOT SURELY DIE / GENESIS 3:4

God expects obedience to Him and acceptance of His Word as absolute truth (Genesis 2:16).

  1. Satan knew this and tried to destroy the woman’s faith in God and His Word by raising doubts about His motives and instructions. Satan suggested that God did not really mean what He said (Genesis 2:16-17). Here we have the first lie Satan proposed to a human being: denial of the judgment of death for sin.
  2. One of the primary sins of people is unbelief in God’s Word. It is doubting that He really means what He says about salvation, righteousness, sin, judgment, and death. Satan’s most persistent lie is that choosing to sin and rebel against God will not necessarily lead to separation from God and eternal punishment (1 Corinthians 6:9; Galatians 5:21; 1 John 2:4).

THE SERPENT / GENESIS 3:1

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

THE SERPENT / GENESIS 3:1

The “serpent” is later identified with Satan, or the devil (Revelation 12:9; 20:2). Satan evidently took control of the serpent and used it as an instrument of temptation (2 Corinthians 11:3, 14: Revelation 20:2; Matthew 4:10). The serpent attacked God through God’s creation. He raised questions about God’s motives and the truth of His Word (Genesis 3:3-4). Adam and Eve believed Satan’s lie and acted upon it. As a result, the curse of sin came upon humanity, and God pronounced severe consequences (results coming from choices) on His creation, including the human race (Genesis 3:16-19).

A THIRD OF THE STARS / REVELATION 12:4

(KJV) Revelation 12:4
And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

A THIRD OF THE STARS / REVELATION 12:4

This action and symbolism is like that of the small horn (the Syrian ruler, Antiochus Epiphanes) in Daniel 8:9-10. Some believe that this is a description of the angel Lucifer’s (Satan’s) original rebellion against God and fall from heaven along with the angels who followed him (2 Peter 2:4; Jude 1:6). Others simply view this as a sign of Satan’s ruthless and destructive power over those who oppose him. Satan is unsuccessful in his attempt to destroy Jesus as an infant (Revelation 12:5; Matthew 2:16-18).

KING OF TYRE / EZEKIEL 28:12

(KJV) Ezekiel 28:12

Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

KING OF TYRE / EZEKIEL 28:12

There is a suggestion in this portion of Ezekiel’s prophecy that Satan himself, working his evil through this leader, is the true ruler of Tyre and the god of this world (1 John 5:19), The king is described as having been a visitor to the Garden of Eden (Ezekiel 28:13), a “guardian cherub,” or angel (Ezekiel 28:14), and a blameless creature in all his ways. This was true until wickedness was found in him (Ezekiel 28:17), he was driven out from the mount of God and thrown down to earth (Ezekiel 28:16-17; Isaiah 14:13-15).
