FAITHFUL AND UNFAITHFUL MANAGER – SERVANT / LUKE 12:42-48

Jesus uses this parable (a brief word picture or story that teaches a spiritual lesson or makes a point) to teach the two possible ways Christ’s followers can live and manage their time, resources and responsibilities in light of Jesus’ absence and promised return. 

  1. They can be faithful and obedient to God – spiritually ready and waiting for the Lord’s return at any time – which will allow them to receive the Master’s blessing (Luke 12:35; Mark 13:35; John 14:3).
  2. They can grow careless and worldly minded, believing that the Lord will delay His coming. In this case, they will quit resisting sin and start straying from the path of faithfulness to God. As a result, they will experience God’s rejection and severe judgment when Christ returns (Luke 12:45-46; Matthew 24:44; John 5:24; 15:6).
