(KJV) 1 Thessalonians 4:8

Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.

DOES NOT REJECT MAN BUT GOD / 1 THESSALONIANS 4:8

Those who reject these instructions on sanctification (the process of growing in purity and holiness and remaining set apart from evil, 1 Thessalonians 4:1-7; 1 Thessalonians 4:7) are rejecting God.

  1. To resist Paul’s warnings is to stand against the Holy Spirit and to reject the purity God requires. God will judge and punish all, including those of the body of Christ, who turn their backs on His standard of moral purity to satisfy their own desires and lusts (1 Thessalonians 4:6; Hebrews 13:4).
  2. All who reject the truth and have “delighted in wickedness” (2 Thessalonians 2:12) – including some who are part of church congregations – will one day be brought to full accountability. Those who are living in rebellion against God will be left behind when Christ returns for His faithful followers (1 Thessalonians 4:17). Their end will be destruction (1 Thessalonians 5:3), wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9) and punishment (2 Thessalonians 1:8). They will be judged and condemned (2 Thessalonians 1:9; 2:12) when Christ returns from heaven “in blazing fire “to punish all who “do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus” (2 Thessalonians 1:7-8).
