ACCESS TO THE FATHER / EPHESIANS 2:18

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Ephesians 2:18
For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

ACCESS TO THE FATHER / EPHESIANS 2:18

Access the God the Father comes through His Son, Jesus Christ, by the presence of the Holy Spirit in believers’ lives. “Access” means that we who have faith in Christ have the freedom and right to approach our heavenly Father with confidence that we will be accepted, welcomed, and loved.

  1. This access is gained through Christ, who gave His life on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin and to restore our opportunity for a personal relationship with God (Ephesians 2:13; Romans 5:1-2). Even now, Christ continues to intercede – to mediate and plead our case – to His Father in heaven for all who come to Him (Hebrews 7:25; 4:14-16).
  2. Access to God requires the Holy Spirit’s help. The Spirit’s power withing the lives of Christ’s followers makes it possible for them to pray according to God’s perfect will and purpose (John 14:16-17; 16:13-14; Romans 8:15-16, 26-27).

REDEMPTION / EPHESIANS 1:7

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Ephesians 1:7

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

REDEMPTION / EPHESIANS 1:7

The word translated “redemption” (Greek apolutrosis) occurs three times in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians (Ephesians 1:7, 14; 4:30). It means “ransomed or restored by the payment of a price.” To be redeemed also relates to being rescued and set free. The term “redemption” is very fitting because it shows how spiritual salvation was obtained – by the payment of a ransom. The price Jesus paid to save and restore up spiritually was extremely costly: “through His blood.” Paul explains that God’s provision of “redemption” and spiritual salvation through Christ’s personal sacrifice covers the full range of human need, this includes our need of forgiveness, spiritual liberation, restoration to a right relationship with God, peace, love, new life, understanding, community, acceptance, security, hope, and victory in our conflict against Satan and his forces of evil.

HIS … POWER / EPHESIANS 1:18-21

(KJV) Ephesians 1:18-21

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

HIS … POWER / EPHESIANS 1:18-21

In order for Christians to gain spiritual strength and ability, achieve victory over Satan and sin, communicate Christ’s message effectively and receive final salvation, they must have God’s power flowing into them continually. This power is a result of the strength and activity of the Holy Spirit working within faithful followers of Christ, purifying, refining, and preparing them for God’s purposes (1 Peter 1:5). It is the same power and Spirit that raised Christ from the dead and exalted Him to God’s right hand – the highest place of honor and authority (Ephesians 1:20; Romans 8:11-16, 26-27; Romans 8:16; Romans 8:26; Galatians 5:22-25).

CHILDREN OBEY / EPHESIANS 6:1

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DEVOTION

(KJV) Ephesians 6:1
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

CHILDREN OBEY / EPHESIANS 6:1

Normally, children of Christian parents remain under parental guidance until they become part of another family unit through marriage.

  1. Small children must be taught to obey and honor their parents through godly training and instruction (Proverbs 13:24, 22:6).
  2. Older children, even after marriage, should continue to show respect for their parents’ counsel (Ephesians 6:2) and honor them in old age through care and financial support, if needed (Matthew 15:1-6).
  3. Children who honor their parents will be blessed by God, here on earth and in eternity (Ephesians 6:3).
