INSULTING AND MOCKING THE PEOPLE / ZEPHANIAH 2:10

(KJV) Zephaniah 2:10

This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the Lord of hosts.

Many people in the world insult and abuse God’s people – those who are committed to the truth and holy standards of God’s Word.

1. This kind of treatment cannot always be avoided in a world that has given in to Satan’s control and is dominated by people whose minds are blinded to the truth (2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 2:2-3; 4:18). Jesus also experienced ridicule and rejection while on earth (Matthew 27:39-44; Psalms 69:10) and told us that we would experience the same (John 15:18; 16:33). 
2. The persecution of God’s people will not last forever. God has determined a day when He will support and defend those who have remained loyal to Him and will bring punishment on those who have mocked and mistreated the faithful.
