We have had our share of up and downs but I'm forever grateful that he is the man God blessed me with. I am happy to report we have been married for 25 years. I love this space on the internet. I create blog posts about faith, my Christian Walk, and our life on the farm. I have learned from the Word of the Lord. I hope this space will give you encouragement and inspiration in your walk with God. I speak on topics that make some breathe a sigh of relief and make others get pretty uncomfortable. I believe that there is power in transparency and that as children of God, we shouldn't hold anything back. Yes, even those raw and messy parts of our Life's Journey. Over the last several years, I have wrestled with my purpose, struggled with various sins, survived some severe injuries, and was diagnosed with severe illnesses that have stopped me in my tracks. Although these dark times have been tough, my walk with God and family has proven to be so fulfilling and sweet, regardless of any earthly circumstance. Christ is enough! And I want you to see that He is enough for you too. The Lord has put it on my heart to share His Word with you. I'm truly honored to meet you and hope you'll introduce yourself to me as well.

The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

THE RIGHTEOUS HAVE A REFUGE / PROVERBS 14.32

Although the Old Testament does not contain a fully developed doctrine or teaching of what happens after death, Proverbs does reveal that people who are in a right relationship with God have the hope of a peaceful and secure life after death. When the wicked die, they have no hope because it only seals their final ruin and separation from God. But when godly people die, they commit themselves to God as their source of hope and security beyond death (Proverbs 12:28; Psalms 49:14-15; 73:24). The New Testament teachings of Christ and of the apostles (Jesus’ disciples and other pioneer leaders of the church in its early stages) give further details concerning the eternal destiny of the righteous and the wicked.

He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

HE WHO OPPRESSES THE POOR / PROVERBS 14:31

Anyone who mistreats or takes advantage of a poor person offends God and shows hatred for Him. All people are made in God’s image (with the capacity to reflect His life and character, Genesis 9:6), and God has a special sense of mercy and concern for the poor (Deuteronomy 15:11). The New Testament reveals that the gospel (the “good news” about forgiveness and new life through faith in Jesus Christ) must be proclaimed to the poor (Matthew 11:5; Acts 4:13; James 2:5). Jesus Christ even identified Himself with the poor (Luke 2:7, 2 Corinthians 8:9: Philippians 2:7).

The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

THE FAITHLESS / PROVERBS 14:14

This describes people who turn their hearts and affections away from God, rejecting Him to go their own selfish way. Such people will in time experience the miserable consequences of their decision (Proverbs 1:31; 12:14; Galatians 6:7). Those who remain faithful to God (the prudent, Proverbs 14:15) will in time be rewarded for their devotion, both in this life and in the next (Revelation 2:7).

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

SEEMS RIGHT / PROVERBS 14:12

Humanistic wisdom and reasoning (based on individual satisfaction and benefit as its highest goal) is a poor basis for degerming what is true or false, right or wrong, worthy or unworthy. No matter how convincing or well-intentioned our ideas and actions may be, if they are not in line with God’s plans and standards they will likely lead to unexpected consequences and disaster. In the end, doing things our own way (which is one of the definitions of sin, Isaiah 53:6) will lead to spiritual death. God’s written revelation – His Word as recorded in the Bible – is the only infallible (Perfect, reliable, unfailing) source for determining the right path of life. The human way leads to death; God’s way leads to eternal life.

DESPISES HIM / PROVERBS 14:2

This refers to an attitude of resentment, hatred or rejection toward God, which is obviously a sin against Him. At times, we may express frustration toward God and even have sincere questions about His activity in our lives, but we must be careful never to treat Him with disrespect or hateful anger.

BE GLAD AND REJOICE / ZEPHANIAH 3:14-17

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Zephaniah 3:14-17

14 Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.

15 The Lord hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the Lord, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.

16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack.

17 The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

BE GLAD AND REJOICE / ZEPHANIAH 3:14-17

God’s people have the greatest reason to rejoice because they have obtained spiritual salvation – their personal relationship with God. True, heartfelt joy is not natural; it is a supernatural response to God’s activity in our lives. We have joy because:

  1. We are forgiven and no longer face punishment for our sins (Zephaniah 3:15).
  2. Our enemy has been defeated – we are set free from the power of Satan and sin (Zephaniah 3:15).
  3. God is with us, giving friendship, grace and help throughout our lives (Zephaniah 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:16).
  4. We are the focus of God’s love and delight (Zephaniah 3:17).

Everyone who accepts the gift of forgiveness and eternal life made available through God’s Son, Jesus, has every reason to rejoice (Ephesians 1:17-18; 3:16-20). Our joy will reach its climax, or highest level, and be complete when God reveals His full glory and majesty on the earth at the end of time (Isaiah 35:1-10)

From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering.

BEYOND THE RIVERS OF CUSH / ZEPHANIAH 3:10

Cush represented on of the most distant lands known at that time. There will be people from all nations, even nations that are relatively unknown today, who will someday bring offerings of worship and gratitude to God in Jerusalem (Isaiah 66:18,20).
