We have had our share of up and downs but I'm forever grateful that he is the man God blessed me with. I am happy to report we have been married for 25 years. I love this space on the internet. I create blog posts about faith, my Christian Walk, and our life on the farm. I have learned from the Word of the Lord. I hope this space will give you encouragement and inspiration in your walk with God. I speak on topics that make some breathe a sigh of relief and make others get pretty uncomfortable. I believe that there is power in transparency and that as children of God, we shouldn't hold anything back. Yes, even those raw and messy parts of our Life's Journey. Over the last several years, I have wrestled with my purpose, struggled with various sins, survived some severe injuries, and was diagnosed with severe illnesses that have stopped me in my tracks. Although these dark times have been tough, my walk with God and family has proven to be so fulfilling and sweet, regardless of any earthly circumstance. Christ is enough! And I want you to see that He is enough for you too. The Lord has put it on my heart to share His Word with you. I'm truly honored to meet you and hope you'll introduce yourself to me as well.

IF YOU WILL WALK IN MY WAYS / Zechariah 3:7

God’s personal message to Joshua strongly encouraged him to follow the Lord and obey His requirements. If Joshua did so, he would serve in a position of authority in the temple and have open access to God’s throne room in heaven, where the angels serve. We too can have open access to heaven’s court through prayer if we humbly obey God and serve His purposes.

I WILL PUT RICH GARMENTS ON YOU / ZECHARIAH 3:4

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Zechariah 3:4

And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

I WILL PUT RICH GARMENTS ON YOU / ZECHARIAH 3:4

God had Joshua’s filthy clothes removed, symbolizing the removal of his (and Israel’s) sin. He then was clothed in clean and costly garments and had a clean turban placed on his head. This meant that he had been fully restored to his role as high priest and that he was able to mediate, or intercede to restore harmony and bring reconciliation, between God and His people. This process represented how God would cleanse all His people from sin and “clothe” them with His righteousness. This same spiritual cleansing is available to us through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:7; Romans 1:16-17; 3:22, 25-26).

REBUKE YOU SATAN! / ZECHARIAH 3:2

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Zechariah 3:2

And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

REBUKE YOU SATAN! / ZECHARIAH 3:2

As Israel’s representative, Joshua in his own power could not resist Satan, for the high priest was dressed in filthy clothes (representing Israel’s sin).

  1. God Himself resisted Satan and discredited (proved to be wrong) his accusations. God had chosen Israel to carry out His purposes, and nothing could stop His plans. 
  2. Israel was a “burning stick snatched from the fire.” The fire represents Israel’s judgment and suffering during the Babylonian exile (when the Babylonians conquered and destroyed Jerusalem over 70 years before and deported the people throughout the empire). God had brought Israel through these sufferings, not to destroy them, but to discipline them. Through all of the difficult and humiliating times, God was teaching His people to obey and depend on Him and preparing them for greater things.

SATAN STANDING AT HIS RIGHT SIDE TO ACCUSE HIM / ZECHARIAH 3:1

(KJV) Zechariah 3:1

And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

SATAN STANDING AT HIS RIGHT SIDE TO ACCUSE HIM / ZECHARIAH 3:1

Joshua (spelled “Jeshua” in Ezekiel 2:2 and Nehemiah 7:7) was representing the nation of Israel to God (Zechariah 1:2). Satan, “the accuser” (Matthew 4:10), was there to oppose him. This explains that all of the opposition to the temple rebuilding project really was coming from Satan. He is still our adversary today, the “accuser of our brothers” (Revelation 12:10), who always tries to take advantage of us. When Christians face opposition, they must keep in mind that their real enemy is Satan and his forces of evil; our battle is with him, not with other people.

Pharaoh deserved to die when he first said, “Who is the LORD, that I should obey Him” (Exodus 2). But instead of destroying him, God allowed him to experience plague after plague so he and the entire world would witness God’s power.

YOUR CATTLE / EXODUS 9:2-3

For if thou refuse to let them go, and wilt hold them still, 3 Behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain.

YOUR CATTLE / EXODUS 9:2-3

The Egyptians worshiped bulls and other animals. They believed that gods revealed themselves through these creatures and protected the Egyptian people. So, the plague on the livestock was a direct attack on Egyptian polytheism (worshiping many gods) and idolatry (worshiping the images of false gods; Exodus 20:4-6; 32).

He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor. 9 He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net. 10 He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.

FROM AMBUSH HE MURDERS THE INNOCENT / PSALMS 10:8-10

  1. Out of greed (Psalms 10:3), such people tap the poor, the young, the careless and the thoughtless within their nets. They are clever as they advertise the benefits and pleasures of their products, but their plan is a trap that will cause much suffering to those who partake of their evil deeds (Psalms 10:9). 
  2. These wicked and arrogant individuals seem to be unaware of their moral accountability to God (Psalms 10:3-4, 11, 13); but their final end will be destruction (Psalms 73). God’s people should not be involved in anything that would harm another human being. In compassion, the righteous are to be fully occupied with helping others, especially encouraging them to avoid harmful temptations.

(KJV) Psalms 10:2

The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

IN HIS ARROGANCE THE WICKED MAN HUNTS / PSALMS 10:2

This psalmist grieves over the pride and success of cruel and wicked people (Psalms 10:3-11).

  1. He prays that God will overthrow the wicked, help the helpless and reign as king forever in order that sin and terror be removed from the earth (Psalms 10:12-18). 
  2. While Christ’s followers must be especially concerned that wicked people turn to God, they must also understand that sin and cruelty will never be completely crushed, nor will truth and justice fully prevail, until Christ returns to destroy all evil (Revelation 19:11 -20:10). Until then, their prayer must be that God will soon abolish evil, that Christ will be crowned King forever and that sin and sorrow will cease (Revelation 19 – 22).

(KJV) Psalms 10:1-18

Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble? 2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined. 3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth. 4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. 5 His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them. 6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity. 7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity. 8 He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor. 9 He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net. 10 He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones. 11 He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it. 12 Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble. 13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it. 14 Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless. 15 Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none. 16 The Lord is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land. 17 Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear: 18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.

DO YOU STAND FAR OFF? / PSALMS 10:1-18

This prayer is a cry to understand why God delays His justice (the cry of those killed for their faith in Christ in Revelation 6:9; Revelation 6:10) and allows wicked people to succeed. Our present age seems to be filled with injustice and all sorts of evil, and God often seems to “stand far off,” letting the ungodly go their own way without being punished. While God’s people should continue to pray that He will stop evil and suffering, they can rest assured that a day of justice and judgment is coming. Until then, the Lord will lift up those who trust Him (Psalms 10:17-18).
